Urban Comfort Optics
for Pedestrian Scale Luminaires.
Urban Comfort variants offer glare-free illumination on direct lighting post tops using special LED boards for Type 5 and Type 3 distributions that diffuse light distribution coupled with a prismatic lens to further soften the glare effect of the downward facing LEDs without compromising on performance.
The Homann Park and LP Capsule post tops from Louis Poulsen that have direct illumination, now offer urban comfort solutions with a slight decrease in delivered lumens, 1,839 lumens down from the 1,956 lumens of the Type 5 variants. Additionally, the vertical beam angle of the Urban Comfort variants is about 96°, compared with the 142° of the Type 5 variants.
Homann Park is a slimmed-down version of a traditional cone-shaped luminaire. Available in a version with glowing rings on both the bottom and the top to emphasize the shape of the luminaire and create ambience and comfortable transition between the luminaire and the surrounding darkness. The luminaire also comes in a no-uplight version. Its light distribution is round symmetrical or asymmetrical.
LP Capsule is characterized by a high degree of integration between the design elements. The fixture elegantly encircles the post for a more coherent solution. Viewed from above, the light consists of two circles – a large round lamp and a smaller round post where the tangents connect the two circles to form a simple geometric harmonious look. The basic idea was to create a cylindrical capsule, with the light source inside a single cylinder, which is in turn inside a larger opal cylinder. This is the source of the direct downward light, but by creating distance between the inner and outer cylinders, the fixture shines surplus light into the gap. Here it is reflected, illuminating the outer cylinder, which glows like a halo around the light source in the middle. This reduces glare and provides a smoother transition to the surrounding environment.
The new Urban Comfort optics eliminates the glare in the close proximities of the luminaire for pedestrian comfort while maintaining the simplistic form of the post top even at lower altitude applications.
F-L Lighting offers urban comfort solutions in the Nyx 330 and Way side entry post tops both of which have a minimalistic, modular design that fit into any environment for pedestrian scale applications.
The Way is a versatile street luminaire. Like the other AART designs for F-L Lighting, Way is modern lines in a classic form – a Nordic design that will suit streets and urban space in any city in the world. The unique shade offers optical guidance with its rim and reduces discomfort glare to a minimum. The Luminaire is also available with comfort optics designed for parks and public spaces where a softer and more atmospheric lighting is desired in closer or lower applications. These are areas where the lighting is intended to enhance comfort and safety for people.
This version features a round LED board without lenses, instead utilizing a diffusion plate that ensures soft, pleasant, and above all, glare-free illumination.
The Nyx 330 fixture, with its ultra-simplistic design, fits seamlessly into almost any environment, providing comfortable lighting while also serving as a subtle optical guide, ideal for pathways or trails. Through a frosted or opalized diffuser, it distributes soft, pleasant, and non-glaring light. The bold design is unobtrusive in any setting, yet still contributes to creating a focal point in the space.
The Nyx 330 post top can also be paired with the Nyx Bollard, allowing for the creation of a unique and distinctive park or area environment, combining medium and low-level lighting. Additionally, the NYX family has been tested in the highest corrosion classes, making them suitable for use in maritime environments.
Human wellbeing, climate considerations and environment are embedded in every detail of F-L Lighting fixtures—not only in materials. Considering the light itself, ensuring that it illuminates what it is intended to, and nothing more. Ensuring the luminaires fit into all settings, shielded to minimize light pollution, and reduce reflection as much as possible. F-L Lighting products can also be provided with low Kelvin temperatures, which enhance the environmental comfort around the luminaire, making spaces attractive, pleasant, and safe for people while minimizing light pollution effectively.
