Designed by Dutch designer Rick Tegelaar for Nuura, Sasi is a wall-mounted luminaire that explores the relationship between light, reflection and materiality. Defined by soft, rounded forms and a refined palette of anodized and polished metal finishes, the collection transforms indirect illumination into a sculptural design element.
Tegelaar’s design philosophy is rooted in experimentation and a curiosity for uncovering new possibilities within familiar materials. With Sasi, this approach is expressed through a composition of contrasting surfaces. A satin-finished aluminum frame surrounds a smaller polished metal element that conceals the integrated LED light source. The interplay between matte and reflective finishes becomes a defining motif, creating a subtle visual dialogue between light, material and space.
Rather than emitting direct illumination, Sasi reflects light across its larger surface, creating a soft and comfortable ambient glow. The polished inner shade captures reflections from the surrounding environment while concealing the light source, producing a layered lighting effect that changes throughout the day. This indirect approach enhances visual comfort while adding depth and atmosphere to interior spaces.
The Sasi Collection: Large and Small
Available in Small and Large sizes, Sasi balances decorative presence with functional performance. The Small version provides intimate indirect accent lighting (delivered lumen: 145lm), while the Sasi Large delivers 358lm, making it suitable for both ambient and feature applications. Integrated LED technology makes it a specifier friendly sconce while maintaining high-quality light output and easy servicability.
